The heart of one of Britain’s most beautiful historic urban environments has for decades been disfigured by a disaggregation of low-cost temporary facilities. Redevelopment is planned, but in ways that threaten, in our eyes, to reinforce the underlying negative characteristics and making them permanent. We aim to catalyse a fresh approach with a radical new vision that appeals to sane principles of genuinely sustainable urbanism, sustainable by virtue of embracing change in accordance with legible human values that have nourished cities successfully in the past.
